Have your teeth changed colour over the years and would you like to have white teeth again? At De Liefde Dental Practice we offer you two possibilities. In an orientation interview we would like to discuss your possibilities with you. During this orientation interview we will also look at possible fillings, facings, crowns and bridges. These will not be bleached during the treatment. We would like to discuss the alternatives with you.
Bleaching treatment in practice
The complete treatment consists of two separate appointments in which we will first clean and polish your teeth to achieve an optimal result. The dental hygienist will cover your soft tissues and will apply a gel onto your teeth. After the bleaching gel has been applied, your teeth will be bleached for 15 minutes in combination with a plasma lamp. This will be repeated three times, after which a fluoride application will be applied to reduce the sensitivity of your teeth.
In our practice, this treatment will take about 2 hours. After this treatment we strongly advise you nt to take any drinks or food containing colourants. This could influence the effect of the bleaching treatment and it could lead to a less good result.
The result of the bleaching treatment will remain visible for some years. However, maintaining your teeth and your living habits do play an important part in the duration of the result’s visibility. Factors that may influence the result are smoking, eating products with lots of colourants and drinking coffee, tea and red wine.
Bleaching at home
Bleaching at home is also one of the possibilities at De Liefde Dental Practice. First, we will make impressions of your teeth, after which a dental technologist will make special retainers for the upper and lower jaw. In our practice, you will receive full instructions for bleaching at home. You can apply Opalescence bleaching gel in the retainers, after which you will have to wear these for 4 to 10 nights.
